Railay Beach 27 km
A small peninsula between Krabi town and Ao Nang, cut off from the mainland by limestone cliffs, so the only way in is by boat. Climbers come from all over the world for the cliffs, and the beaches of Phra Nang, West and East Railay and Ton Sai lie beneath them.
Ko Poda 32 km
A small limestone island about 8 kilometres off Ao Nang, ringed with white sand and shallow, clear water. It is the largest of the Poda group, with Ko Kai, Ko Mo and Ko Thap, and all of them fall within a national park.
Phang Nga Bay 37 km
A 400 square kilometre bay between Phuket and the mainland, filled with sheer limestone islands rising straight out of green water. Much of it has been protected since 1981 as Ao Phang Nga National Park, and it is best seen from a long-tail boat or a sea kayak.
Ko Jum 47 km
A quiet island about 25 kilometres south of Krabi town, with three villages and a slow pace of life. Also known as Ko Pu, it has beaches face west across the Andaman Sea.
Ko Yao Yai 48 km
The larger of the two long islands in the middle of Phang Nga Bay, its name meaning big long island. Most of its people are Muslim fishing and farming families, and it is quieter and less developed than its smaller twin, Ko Yao Noi, to the north.
James Bond Island 48 km
A pair of limestone islands in Phang Nga Bay that became famous after appearing in a James Bond film. Just offshore stands Ko Tapu, a 20 metre spike of rock that narrows towards its base and seems to balance on the water.
Ko Panyi 48 km
A fishing village built on stilts over the water of Phang Nga Bay, tucked against the foot of a limestone island. About 1,600 people live here, descended from two seafaring Muslim families from Indonesia, and the mosque rises above the rooftops.
